| Recently, a respected Christian lady who attends another church in Streator, told me about a dream. In the dream, she saw the Holy Spirit coming in power in our church. She said that the Holy Spirit was released or manifested through our worship. She also made it a point to explain that the last time she was certain a dream she had was from the Lord, it came to pass exactly like she saw in her dream three days later. She had that same assurance that this dream was from the Lord. How do you handle a “word from the Lord”? Biblically, you consider the source. Now, we all know the Bible shows us that God can speak through a donkey, so He can speak through any of His people. We are all called to prophesy in the sense that the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus. Then some are gifted, some have a ministry, and some stand in the office of a prophet. Secondly, does the prophecy line up with Scripture? And does it have confirmation with church leaders and in your spirit personally? These guidelines will help you in discerning God’s workings. This dream word about the Holy Spirit coming to our church in a powerful way seemed to fit with the guidelines. Apostle Paul instructed his student Timothy, “…in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, holding on to faith and a good conscience.” 1 Tim. 1:18 I shared the dream with our leaders and worship team. I urged everyone to press into the Lord, walk with God with clean hands a pure heart. Wouldn’t you know it...within the week, negative stuff began to manifest in some members on our worship team. My first response was, “Why don’t people listen up better, when warned or told about something like God moving in our midst?”. Guess that’s why we are called “sheep". My second response was, “We need to stand against Satan’s counter attacks, who likes to abort things before they can happen.” Thirdly, I realize that in it all God is working to cleanse us and purify us, that God is greater than the foe, and that we need to believe and follow God’s leadings in fighting the good fight and overcome with the Lord. Will you join in the good fight, believe and press into the Lord so that we may see the Holy Spirit come in power in our midst? Wouldn’t it be awesome if He came so powerfully this Sunday, that no one could even stand up to minister to Him, and everyone was healed of any kind of sickness or disease, and that everyone within a mile radius of the church came under conviction, repented and received Jesus and was saved. Pray with us, “Come Holy Spirit.” |
