| An analogy that explains how one can know the end from the beginning and still leave room for human choice. A car designer, that has a plan for an automobile, knows with absolute certainty what the car will look like and all of the other characteristics of the future car. At that point in time many questions have not been answered.... Where will the car be built? Where will they buy the parts? How much will the car cost? Will somebody get in an accident in this future car? There is scripture that supports this analogy. Isaiah 38:4 - 8 (NKJV) And the word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying, Go and tell Hezekiah, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city. And this is the sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will do this thing which He has spoken: Behold, I will bring the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down with the sun on the sundial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees on the dial by which it had gone down. Let me say this regarding God's foreknowledge....I think it is a mystery that can not be known by us. Isaiah 40:13 Who has measured the Spirit of ADONAI? Who has been his counselor, instructing him? |
